We invite applications for 2 Clinical Teaching Fellow posts working across Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole Hospital. It is a fantastic time to join our enthusiastic team as we look to strengthen our already highly regarded Foundation and Simulation Programme supporting our doctors across University Hospitals Dorset.
University Hospitals Dorset is currently undergoing a £450 million transformation process which will make us one of the largest acute trusts in the south of England.
Main duties of the job
Foundation Medical Education Training Fellow:
The post will be based across UHD (Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals) with 80% of the time allocated to education and 20% (1 day per week) to an area of clinical interest to ensure the post holder’s clinical skills are supported and maintained. This post does not require out of hours work.
Simulation Medical Education Training Fellow:
The post will be based across UHD (Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals) with 80% of the time allocated to simulation-based education (SBE) and 20% (1 day per week) to an area of clinical interest to ensure the post holder’s clinical skills are supported and maintained. This post does not require out of hours work.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Foundation Medical Education Training Fellow:
* The successful candidate will work alongside the medical education team including the Foundation Programme Directors, the Foundation Co-ordinators to support delivery of teaching programmes.
* The successful candidate will be encouraged to undertake medical education research projects and quality improvement projects.
MAIN DUTIES OF THE POST
* Clinical Teaching Fellows will be involved in the delivery of a wide variety of teaching including:
o Bedside teaching on wards
o Small group problem solving / tutorials
o Clinical skills teaching
o Facilitating sessions on the FY2 programme
o Course induction and feedback sessions
Simulation Medical Education Training Fellow:
* This post is one-year fixed term post based on 10 sessions per week
* 8 sessions of educational work
* 2 sessions of clinical work in a speciality of your choice
Person specification
Experience
* Eligible to work in the UK
* Up to date with current NHS Clinical Practice
* Minimum of 2 years recent Postgraduate NHS clinical work experience
* Experience supporting the education of others
* Evidence of Audit and research projects
* Experience of commitment to medical education
Qualifications and Training
* Current GMC registration and licence to practice
* Successful completion of 2 year foundation programme
* Medical Education teaching qualification
* Compliant with all mandatory training
Skills, Knowledge and Aptitude
* Evidence of experience and enthusiasm for teaching
* Ability to prioritise workload and use own initiative
* Ability to know own limitations and when to seek advice
* Meet the requirements of the GMCs Good Medical Practice
* Enthusiasm for simulation-based education
Interpersonal Skills
* Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
* Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary team
* Demonstrates good time management skills
* Prepared to be flexible in working
Other Attributes
* Full GMC registration with licence to practice
