We are offering an opportunity to join our Speech and Language Therapy service in Ipswich and East Suffolk, working as a specialist speech and language therapist with dysphagia across inpatient and community settings. This is a fixed term part time vacancy (30 hours) to cover maternity leave. The contract will be from 1st March 2025 until 31st July 2025.
You will support individuals with swallowing difficulties, including those with complex needs. You will supervise and line manage staff, and will be required to contribute to our instrumental assessment provision, including videofluoroscopy and FEES.
The integrated SLT service in East Suffolk delivers inpatient, outpatient and community services.
Main duties of the job
Our team supports people who have a range of conditions including stroke, progressive neurological conditions, head and neck cancer, voice disorders, dementia, respiratory conditions, and frailty. We also offer a countywide service to adults with learning disability. We are a friendly team, and share expertise across the teams with our populations at the centre of service delivery. Our department sits within the Integrated Therapies division and therefore have excellent links to our MDT colleagues, including shared CPD opportunities. All teams are supported by our SLT apprentices and assistants.
This service champions research, innovation and development. We are proud to be supporting two team members who are undertaking a pre-doctoral fellowship and Masters in Research. The service lead and member of the team were recently 'highly commended' in the Research Impact category of the CAHPO awards for a research project that they published using clinical data. The team are actively engaged in service improvement projects including the use of EMST, reviewing respiratory pathways and looking at service redesign. The Trust is committed to developing leadership skills for staff at all levels.

* Eligible for registered membership of RCSLT

* Evidence of successful completion of specialist courses at a Masters degree equivalent (or an MSc if available in clinical specialism), particularly in dysphagia (eg Maggie Lee Huckabee training)
* RCSLT Videofluoroscopy competency: Level 3
* FEES level 2 competency
* Ability to travel to different places of work/driving licence
