In order to apply, you must have a minimum of 2 years experience.
We are located in Horsham, and you must be able to reliably commute to Horsham.
We are looking for a caring, fun, and reliable support worker in a private placement supporting our 22-year-old autistic non-verbal son in his own private residential setting. You would be working alone for some shifts but also teaming up with other team members at times when going on outings and into the community. We already have a great team you would be joining who are very cheerful and supportive.
The position would suit a fun, active, caring, and reliable candidate with a good sense of humour who is looking for a fulfilling role where they can really make a difference in a young person's life.
Full training with the client will be provided, along with extensive shadowing sessions with established support workers before any solo shifts.
We can also offer additional training if desired, as we are keen to help with career development in this field, such as Positive Behaviour Support training or Registered Behaviour Technician Training with Behaviour Analyst Certificate Board accreditation or NVQs in health and social care.
Full-time role
Candidates will need to be fit and healthy and keen to participate and organise fun, appropriate activities, helping the client participate in community trips, attend specialist provisions, and develop self-help skills.
Hours can be flexible but average 40 hours per week for the full-time position. Nighttime shifts, of which it is normally only one a week, are 13 hours and are paid as waking nights even if you are able to sleep (i.e., if the client is sleeping, which is often the case although not guaranteed, of course).
These hours are fully negotiable with the right candidate, and there will be some flexibility.
Part-time role
Hours can be as flexible as needed for the part-time role as you would be part of our small team.
Responsibilities and Duties
The role will involve supporting around school hours, but also in the daytime if on school holidays. You will be helping with all aspects of the client's life including taking them out for drives, picking up and dropping off at school, self-help skills, personal care, encouraging independence, and helping the client have as much fun and life enrichment as possible.
