Fortrea Clinical Development are hiring for Clinical Research Nurses to join our new Phase 1 Clinic at Drapers Yard Leeds, a world class, state-of-the-art 65,000 ft² space with 100 beds (and growing), fully dedicated to Early Clinical research (and 7 minutes walking from the train station!)
Working with Healthy Volunteers and some Patient Populations, these are full-time and permanent opportunities working hours are 37 hours per week, five days over seven. You will be required to work a mix of shifts, including weekend, twilight and night shifts.

If you join us, you will work with some of the world´s leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies in a vital stage of clinical development: establishing the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of a new drug. Your nursing skills are essential to us providing healthy volunteer and patient care and monitoring during a trial and ensuring the ethical conduct of the study.
Many nurses are drawn to their profession because of its direct impact on patient care. If this is your case, you will not miss that working in Phase 1 trials. Whilst allowing you to have a close face-to-face relationship with participants, and as you continue to practice your clinical skills and knowledge, you´ll be involved with the latest medical technologies and treatments, witnessing their development firsthand. When the drug you worked with gets approved, you know you´ll touch many patient´s lives around the world.
On a normal day, you will…
Learn. And grow. No two days will be the same; and this is because in the clinic you will be exposed to a wide variety of Therapeutic Indications and study types (ascending dose, first-in-human, food effect, drug to drug interactions, etc.) Regardless of your projects, every day you will:
3. Utilize your skills, knowledge, nursing diagnosis, and clinical judgement in order to provide a high standard of care for participants in clinical trials and respond to emergency situations based upon nursing standards
4. Utilize your nursing assessment skills to observe participant general well-being and potential adverse events.
5. Document adverse events and take appropriate action as needed
6. Obtain Informed Consent and continue the ICF process by educating, explaining and informing participants of study procedures
7. Administer investigational compounds (inclusive of parenteral) to participants according to the protocol and applicable regulations
8. Perform study related activities such as cannulation, telemetry, holters, vital signs, ECGs, venipuncture
9. Collect and process biological samples according to the study protocol and Standard Operating Procedures
10. Record data obtained in a timely, error free manner according to the protocol and Standard Operating Procedures, transcribing source data onto the Case Report Form
What do you bring to Fortrea?
11. You are a Registered Nurse with the NMC.
12. BLS Certified.
13. ILS certification to be gained in role.
14. A plus, but not a must, if you bring previous experience with Electronic Data Capture tools and Veeva
Previous Research Nurse experience is ideal, but not a must. We are open to consider recent graduates or any recent nursing experience. The important thing for us is you are comfortable working in an environment that is:
15. Fast paced : where no deviations from the study protocol are allowed, and not meeting a timeline for even few minutes will create a quality issue.
16. Changing priorities constantly asking you to prioritize and adapt on the spot.
17. Teamwork and people skills are essential for the study to run smoothly
