Production Assistant (Bursary Placement)
Are you looking for some hands-on experience to boost your skills and CV? Do you have an interest in the production of short films?
Our bursary placement as Production Assistant will offer the opportunity to work with Filmmaker Nick Farrimond, M6’s Artistic Director Gilly Baskeyfield and professional actors.
M6 Theatre Company is creating an educational film resource for ages 13+.
The Incident, written by Mary Cooper, will explore issues around misogynistic culture, coercive control and consent, supporting relationship and sex education. This is part of M6’s Curriculum for Life programme, designed to support young people’s mental health and wellbeing. As part of M6’s Talent Development Programme, we are offering a bursary placement for someone who is living in Rochdale OR has strong connections to the Borough OR is under-represented in the arts sector and lives within commuting distance of Rochdale.
You might be a recent graduate, amid a career change or just looking for some hands-on experience for your CV.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Providing on-set support to the filmmaker by helping with equipment setup, and general production duties which might include managing bounce boards for light reflection and boom operation.
2. Checking continuity.
3. Assisting with set dressing at locations.
4. Helping with props/costumes.
5. Liaising with production team to co-ordinate timings.
6. Organising team refreshments.
7. Supporting any administrative duties.
Of course, there will be other tasks that come up that we might ask you to help with.
Who We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone who can bring the following to our small team:
* Any experience in film making is a bonus, but not essential.
* Teamworking skills.
* Initiative and problem-solving ability.
It will be hard work, but we hope our team can offer you a positive experience in a supportive environment. The successful candidate will be awarded a bursary of £550 for the week.
The filming dates you must be available for are Monday 3rd – Friday 7th March 2025. We will only be able to consider applications from candidates who are available for all dates. Please be aware that the filming days will involve early morning call times.
