The successful candidate will provide efficient and effective administrative support to the Personnel Security Vetting Unit (PSVU), to include managing all communication into the department.
The role holder is required to visit various locations within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight on occasion to attend training sessions and team and departmental meetings and therefore needs to have the ability to travel as necessary.
Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
1. To provide support to the PSVU team by performing a range of administrative and clerical tasks to support the vetting SLA and which are consistent with Department and Force requirements.
2. To maintain confidential reports in respect of vetting files for internal and external applicants.
3. Maintain accurate records of vetting applications and ensure that information held on Core-Vet is current, accurate and any changes are accurately reflected in the relevant file.
4. Ensure that information provided by the vetting subject is completed correctly and in full. Ensure the information is accurate and appropriately authorised. Identify gaps in the information provided and obtain further information as required.
5. Responsible for ensuring vetting applications are received into Core-vet in a timely manner.
6. To effectively identify when vetting clearances have expired and initiate the renewal process.
7. To maintain mailboxes, includes processing and responding to all correspondence received in a professional and timely manner.

Essential Qualifications:
Educated to QCF Level 2 to include Maths and English OR relevant work experience deemed to have brought the post holder to a comparable level.
Essential Experience:
• Proven experience working in a busy office environment undertaking duties involving meticulous attention to detail and accurately record data
• Competent use of standard Microsoft Office such as Word and Excel
• Maintaining/administrating complex electronic databases
• Prioritising workloads against competing demands and meeting challenging deadlines.
In addition to the qualifications and experience:
▪ Undergo the provisions of the vetting standard of Management Vetting (MV) level, along with Security Check (SC) National Security clearance.
▪ A good attendance record that is below the Force “cause for concern” absence trigger point.
▪ Maintain personal responsibility for collection, recording, information sharing, review, retention and disposal of information in compliance with codes of practice and Guidance of management of information, information security policy, procedures and legislation
▪ Undertake any training courses that may be required to improve your expertise on the job.
▪ Carry out fire warden duties to meet required if requested.
