Serco are recruiting for a Duty Manager/ Night Porter to join our team based in York at the Emergency Planning College. This role is crucial to ensure that all guests receive a warm, memorable, and personalised welcome to the Hawkhills out of hours, setting the scene for their stay and ensuring that the guests need are anticipated and that any requests are actioned.
Our Duty Manager/ Night Porter will be responsible for completing administrative tasks accurately and within given deadlines. You will also work with the Security Contractor to be responsible for the security of the building and its guests overnight and to clean and set meeting rooms, associated public areas, and deliver tasks to the agreed standard and to guests’ specification.
Additionally, this role when required, will support the conference and events business in the day-to-day delivery of commercial events held at the Emergency Planning College. The range of events includes weddings, training/information seminars, conferences, publicity events, dinners and luncheons and other commercial activities. Working efficiently and effectively with all stakeholders to deliver service excellence throughout.
Main Accountabilities:
⦁ The post holder will be able to operate with minimal input from senior management, exercise excellent judgement and decision making and be totally customer service driven.
⦁ To ensure that all areas of responsibility are maintained to a high standard and are always presentable.
⦁ General cleaning (vacuuming, dusting, mopping, deep cleans etc).
⦁ To act as Duty Manager when required. (During out of hours Fire or Security incidents).
⦁ Enforce and monitor all health, safety, and sanitation standards in their area.
⦁ Providing excellent customer service to guests.
⦁ Handle guest complaints according to provided guidelines.
What you’ll need to do the role:
⦁ Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
⦁ Strong organisation, prioritisation, and communication skills, able to work within time constraints and prioritise tasks according to the needs of the Estate.
⦁ Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety standards in the conjunctions of events (desriable)
