Job summary
To work alongside qualified Occupational Therapy (OT) staff to jointly co-ordinate the day-to-day running of the Occupational Therapy service and support the team to deliver a robust, high quality clinical service on the ward.
To input into OT service planning and development and lead on implementation as appropriate.
To work alongside and feedback to a well-established OT Team and MDT.
To develop specialist knowledge and skills in child and adolescent mental health, and to train and educate others in their practice.
To develop and maintain strong links with community resources, including within the trust, local authority and third sector organisations in order to refer patients and support their engagement in preparation for discharge.
To support with discharge planning.
Main duties of the job
Attend the daily Unit huddle and planning of the day meeting with the OT Team.
Working alongside the Education staff in supporting young people.
Organising, planning and running sessions and therapeutic activities.
Ensuring that admin duties are completed to a satisfactory manner.
Be responsible for ordering provisions, resources and other items that can used for activities.
Be confident in working in the community (assessments, shopping, observations)
Being creative and comfortable working with young people and adaptable.
Being interactive, approachable and dynamic.

Education
Essential
1. Fluent in both oral and written English.
2. Group work experience or training
3. GCSE level or equivalent in English

4. Working with young people or adults who have experienced mental health difficulties.
5. Experience of note keeping, making entries for therapeutic interventions
6. Facilitating therapeutic groups and individual interventions
7. Working within a team
