We are delighted to be partnered exclusively with a leading UK law firm in search of a Business Development Director to lead the next stage of their significant transformation project that the team is undergoing. The focus of this role will be aligning the business development strategy with the wider business strategy, overseeing all commercially beneficial activities and initiatives for the firm, and ensuring smooth implementation of the firm’s new long-term strategy. This role will allow you great autonomy to create impact and influence the make-up of the wider team. You will also be managing a team of 35, with 6 direct reports and a further addition to come once the BD Director has been hired. Reporting into the Chief Commercial Officer, responsibilities will include:
1. Strategically planning and implementing business development plans to ensure growth targets are being met and driving collaboration with the marketing team so that these plans are delivered in an integrated manner and in line with the wider business strategy.
2. Playing an advisory role to partners to ensure best practice by bringing new and proactive ideas to the table, including identifying opportunities for the business and ensuring the best utilisation of resources, including newly invested digital tools.
3. Leading a team of practice and sector-aligned Heads of Business Development, ensuring effective people management by keeping the team motivated.
4. Collaborating with wider teams, including the client acquisition team, to target pipeline and ensure commercial growth, as well as with members across all of their national offices.

3. Comfortable managing a variety of projects, including transformation programmes, digital initiatives, and wider BD and marketing activities, and being able to collaborate effectively with a wide range of teams.
4. Able to manage and influence partners to be engaged in priority business development activities through high levels of emotional intelligence.
