BioTalent is working with a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company at the forefront of developing precision live biotherapeutic products with an exciting pipeline targeting immuno-oncology and inflammatory bowel disease. Their mission is powered by a purpose-built, proprietary microbiome profiling platform—an industry-leading technology that unlocks the therapeutic potential of the microbiome by identifying specific bacterial strains linked to clinical outcomes in defined patient populations.
We’re now looking for a Senior Bioinformatics Software Developer to play a key role in shaping the technical future of their analysis platform. If you’re passionate about building scalable, production-ready tools that support real-world therapeutic discovery, this is your chance to make a genuine impact in a fast-growing biotech.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Bioinformatics Engineer, you will be a core contributor to the evolution of our data infrastructure and informatics capabilities. Your work will directly support therapeutic development and enable high-quality, scalable data processing at the heart of their innovation engine.
Key responsibilities:
* Design and develop cutting-edge bioinformatics analysis tools and workflows
* Build and implement robust, production-ready pipelines in a managed compute environment
* Continuously optimise workflows to meet scalability, efficiency, and industry compliance standards
* Explore and integrate new tools and technologies to keep our platform at the forefront of innovation
* Collaborate cross-functionally with biology, data science, and therapeutic discovery teams
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for innovation in life sciences.
You’ll ideally bring:
* A PhD or MSc in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field plus postdoc or equivalent industry experience
* Proven experience working with genomic data
* Solid knowledge of software engineering principles including networking, security, and scalable architecture
* Strong programming skills in Python, with experience writing production-grade software
* Hands-on experience with workflow management tools like Nextflow or Cromwell
* Experience working in Linux environments and on cloud platforms (ideally AWS)
Bonus points for:
* Experience with microbiome or metagenomic data
* An interest in therapeutic development or translational science
Why them?
You won’t just be another cog in the machine—you’ll be part of a bold, collaborative team transforming the future of medicine through microbiome science. We offer a dynamic, science-led environment where your ideas will be heard, your skills will be valued, and your work will have real-world impact.
