Our Pension Fund Accounting business continues to grow and we are now looking for an experienced Deputy Team Manager Pension Fund Accounts to join our vibrant office with remote or hybrid working. This is an exciting role and would most likely suit someone with previous experience in a similar role where they have gained extensive skills and knowledge as a senior pension fund accountant and is looking for a fresh new challenge.

The Team
Our award-winning pensions administration business puts scheme members at the heart of everything we do. Our services include scheme administration, first-time outsourcing, member communications and scam protection.
The Role
As a Deputy Team Manager - Pension Fund Accounts with XPS you will:
* Promote and adhere to the XPS workplace values.
* Prepare pension scheme Trustee Report & Accounts.
* Reconcile investment transactions.
* Prepare all the necessary working papers & reconciliations of the financial statements.
* Liaise with auditors and investment managers.
* Prepare self-assessment tax returns (SA970).
* Reconcile cash books and pensioner payrolls.
* Update and review procedures and templates used by the team.
* Review other team members' work.
* Onboard new clients.
* Provide expert advice to pensions accounts queries, keeping abreast of technical and legislative developments within the pensions accounts industry.
* Ensure company policies and working procedures are implemented and adhered to by self.
* Forge strong working relationships with other teams in order to provide a total service to our clients (e.g. Administration, Payroll, Client Banking, Actuaries).
* Ensure the accurate updating of time recording system (OpenAir) for both chargeable and non-chargeable activities.
* Conduct quarterly 121 meetings & year-end appraisals for junior staff (associates and senior associates).
* Cover Team Manager tasks when absent.
* Conduct team meetings and team catch-ups when required.
Your profile
Essential Criteria
* Must have attained a recognised accountancy qualification, e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, etc or qualified by experience.
* A proven accounting background gained within either an accounting practice or a third-party pension's provider. Experience should include a broad knowledge of accounting techniques including reconciliation, year-end processes, etc.
* Previous Pensions Fund Accounting (PFA) experience is essential.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook.
* Experience of Profund Aviary would be of advantage.
* Previous experience of checking the work of other team members.
* High degree of numeracy.
* Excellent interpersonal abilities and able to forge strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.
* A client-focused approach.
* Continuing to augment technical pensions accounting knowledge as well as keeping abreast of legislative changes and being seen as a source of advice to others.
* Continues to seek ways of innovating and improving quality, service delivery and efficiencies in processes and procedures.
* Meticulous and well organized.
