Main duties of the job
You will always adhere to the NMC code of professional conduct and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures. You will ensure that an individual program of care is planned, implemented, and evaluated for each patient within your sphere of responsibility. The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team, always ensuring the delivery of a high standard of care to the patients and acting as a positive role model.
To act as a team leader, including taking charge of the theater/ward in the absence of the deputy manager, and to participate in all relevant aspects of the governance process.

Job responsibilities
* To provide and maintain the highest possible standards of patient care.
* To develop and maintain good theater/ward management and organizational skills.
* To provide effective support for the ward sister/charge nurse, ensuring self-development in the day-to-day management of theater and ward.
* Under the supervision of the ward/theater department manager, to work on delegated projects relating to local policy and service development.
* Make a thorough assessment of the patient's needs and document in accordance with the nursing policies.
* Formulate a plan of care based on the identified needs of the patient, taking into account current evidence-based research findings.
* Ensure that all the care planned is delivered to the patient at the highest possible standard.
* Evaluate nursing actions and alter the care plan in accordance with the changing needs of the patient.
* To work towards an awareness of service delivery plans.
