Job overview
The Health Care Support Worker will support the registered nurse in providing the highest possible standards of care for patients and their families. They will perform tasks within their competence following direction from a registered nurse in a professional manner, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Main duties of the job
1. To undertake delegated duties as instructed by the registered nurse.
2. Support the multi-disciplinary team in providing consistently high standards of care.
3. To record timely and accurate patient information.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Good basic level of education
* Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, relevant legislation; completion of a competency-based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3
* Confidence in working with limited supervision
* Ability to identify limitations of unregistered role
* Awareness of professional boundaries
* Understanding of health promotion & health care issues
Experience
* Significant Hospital / Community experience
* Experience of undertaking clinical tasks i.e. patient observations, venepuncture, Cannulation, ECG
* Able to accurately record and report clinical observations and other information.
Skills and Attributes
* Able to understand and carry out instructions accurately
* Ability to prioritise workload
* Able to work within a multi-disciplinary setting
* Ability to work on your own or under supervision
* Understand and respect the principles of dignity & confidentiality
