Trees for Cities is the only national charity dedicated to improving lives by planting, protecting, and promoting urban trees. We do this by working closely with communities, landowners, partners, and funders to deliver transformational change in towns and cities across the UK. We plant trees in schools, streets, estates, parks, and open spaces to create nature-rich urban woodland, hedgerows, orchards, avenues, and playgrounds.
Benefitting people and the environment lies at the heart of what we do, and this role comes at an exciting time for our organisation. We have been laying a strong fundraising foundation by reviewing and optimising fundraising systems, resources, and team capabilities to support future growth. With our current strategy, The Turn of Trees, we have seen significant growth and diversification of income. As we move into our next strategic phase, The Movement for Tree Equity, we are committed to creating a movement for tree equity - increasing access to green spaces, especially in disadvantaged areas, as part of our broader climate, community, and health justice initiatives.
The incoming Fundraising Director will play a pivotal role in shaping our fundraising approach for this next phase, which may include developing innovative funding streams, potentially exploring green finance and nature-based solutions. Leading a team of six, the Director will drive income generation across corporate donors, trusts and foundations, lotteries, and central government funds to support our ambitious goals in tree planting, community engagement, and environmental equity.
We are seeking a proven fundraising professional with a track record of income generation across complex stakeholder landscapes. The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader and communicator, confident in engaging senior-level partners and supporters to build sustainable and impactful partnerships and diverse income streams. This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in urban communities and lead a motivated team at the forefront of climate action.
Trees for Cities is a fantastic place to work. We have a warm, inclusive, and vibrant culture, where you will work collaboratively to witness the impact of your work making a tangible difference in urban communities.
