As Release Train Engineer (RTE) you will act as a servant leader and Agile Release Train (ART) coach who facilitates ART events and processes and supports teams in delivering value. You will be tasked with communicating with stakeholders, escalating impediments, helping manage risk, and driving relentless improvement.
You will be responsible for ensuring cohesion and transparency across a group of scrum teams. As a senior position in our agile ecosystem the role is expected to support the progression of Scrum Masters within the community as well as be an advocate for the agile way of working within the wider organisation.
Key Accountabilities:
* Responsible for coordinating multiple delivery teams with the ART ensuring alignment with the SAFe cadence of Program Increments (PIs) and Iterations (Sprints), and PI planning, regular demos, scrum of scrums.
* Establish and facilitate key events to ensure teams are prepared for the SAFe cadence, enabling seamless information flow between teams. Ensure team objectives and outcomes are consolidated and shared whilst ensuring the program vision is clearly understood across all ART teams.
* Demonstrate effective Transformational Leadership, motivating, embracing and coaching members of the entire release train, building team cohesion and fostering an open and honest culture and driving relentless improvement.
* Provide mechanisms for teams to identify and share impediments and actively address these blocking issues so the team can focus on achieving Iteration goals. This may involve engaging with other teams for support and managing escalations.
* Work with other RTEs and Scrum Masters to facilitate the removal of external dependencies in different product areas or release trains.
* Ensure effective identification of and management of Risks & Issues from the ART in conjunction with the ePMO and Delivery Managers, in order to ensure value realisation and to support adherence to and improvements in the lean governance.
* Define and monitor the ART performance metrics (velocity, predictability/estimating) and work with Scrum Masters to drive continuous improvement.
* Communicate and share achievements as well as key challenges from the teams across the organisation to ensure continual improvement.
Skills & Experience
* Extremely effective communicator (verbal, written).
* Knowledge of SAFE (Scaled Agile Framework) and Scrum.
* Proficient in use of Jira & associated tools.
* Proficient in financial management including agile/phased budgets.
* Strong leadership and excellent people management skills.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders.
* Strong negotiating and influencing skills; ability to challenge when appropriate.
* Experience in change delivery in a data environment.
* Strong knowledge and application of SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).
* Intricate understanding and experience of implementing scrum.
* Experience within various different industries preferably including Financial Services.
* Experience within Agile product and change delivery on a scaled basis.
* Experience of operating within lean budgets.
