We are looking for a postdoctoral research fellow to work on the Leverhulme Trust-funded project, ‘Weaponised Pasts: The Evolution Of Heritage-based Hostility On Social Media’. You will undertake research focused on the cultural evolution of archaeological information using advanced text-mining techniques and statistics.
This post is fixed term (1st September 2025 – 31st August 2028) and full-time (35 hours per week). We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
The salary scale for this post is UE07 £40,247 to £47,874 per annum. This post will be appointed at Grade UE07 Step 4, which is £43,878 per annum.
Your Skills and Attributes for Success:
1. PhD (already defended) on a topic related to one or more of the following: archaeology, heritage, anthropology, linguistics, cultural evolution, diffusion of information or hostility, or a relevant topic
2. Advanced skills in computational methods and statistics
3. Ability to plan research activities, including the collection, analysis and interpretation of textual data using Python, R or other programming language
4. Ability to work independently, but in close coordination with team members
5. Excellent communication skills, in English, both orally and in writing
