We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Out of Hours (OOH) Veterinary Nurse to play a key role in delivering high-quality clinical care in a fast-paced and rewarding environment at Swift Referrals on a fixed-term contract.
Your New Career
As an OOH Nurse, you will work closely with our skilled clinical team to ensure the well-being of patients during overnight hours. You will deliver compassionate, holistic care and support to hospitalised patients, manage sedation and anaesthesia, and collaborate with surgeons during procedures. Your role will also include facilitating smooth communication with the daytime teams to ensure continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide exceptional, patient-centered care to hospitalised animals.
2. Monitor and manage sedated and anaesthetised patients, prioritising patient safety.
3. Assist with both surgical and non-surgical procedures, preparing patients for treatment.
4. Operate and maintain advanced monitoring equipment.
5. Support diagnostic procedures, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, and more.

Opened in 2019 and purpose-built to industry leading standards, Swift Referrals is a multidisciplinary referral hospital offering the very best in veterinary excellence, all under one roof. We specialise in the areas of orthopaedics, neurology, internal medicine and soft tissue surgery, housing world-class facilities on our premises from advanced imaging machines to specialist treatment and aftercare rooms. We have 1.5T Siemens MRI scanner, 128 Slice GE CT scanner, doppler ultrasound, endoscopy, arthroscopy and state-of-the-art operating theatres, and separate dog and cat wards. We also have a dedicated ECC and OOH centre which houses a large ICU for our critical patients. Out of Hours Doesn’t Mean All Hours
This is a full-time position consisting of 37.5 hours per week, worked over 3-night shifts, plus 1 in 4 Saturday nights.
