Malachi Place is a pioneering residential service, based in Ilford, accommodating 42 people, including people with no recourse to public funds. The role of an Assistant Support Worker with The Salvation Army is an inspirational one and key to achieving successful outcomes for our vulnerable clients. We are looking for highly motivated individuals to join our Support Team. You will work with our Support Workers to empower individuals to move on and break the cycle of homelessness. You will also complete day to day activities including administration tasks and reception duties to support the successful operation of the centre.
Applications are welcome from all, but we are particularly interested in applications from candidates that have language skills relevant to the residents including Punjabi and Lithuanian.
Key Responsibilities:
For these Assistant level roles, direct experience of working with homeless people is not essential; however, you will need to demonstrate to us that you have the understanding, willingness and motivation to engage with our homeless clients.
The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:
1. Motivation towards supporting vulnerable clients to achieve focussed and positive life outcomes
2. Own initiative towards problem solving which will benefit colleagues and clients and improve standards
3. Good customer service and time management skills with ability to prioritise workload
4. Good verbal and written communication skills
5. Proficient IT skills (including Microsoft packages)
