Job overview
We are seeking a committed and dedicated person to join our maternity team as a preterm birth midwife. This is a fixed term post to cover maternity leave commencing March 2025 for a nine month period.
There has never been a better time to join us at University Hospitals of North Midlands. You will be supported and developed by an experienced multi-disciplinary team.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who will work collaboratively with the MDT to implement SBL V3 and its commitment to reducing preterm birth. With an already established preterm clinic, we are committed to developing the role of the midwife within this specialist field.
Main duties of the job
UHNM is looking for an enthusiastic Midwife to play a decisive role in leading in the development of care and management of women who are at increased risk of preterm birth, together with our Lead Consultant. You will also benefit from working closely with our fantastic Fetal Medicine team.
You will provide pregnant women with risk factors for preterm labour and birth with high quality, safe midwifery care in the antenatal period. The care will be evidence-based and holistic in meeting women’s individual needs and the midwife will be expected to work autonomously within the guidelines and sphere of professional practice. Act as a mentor and/or preceptor as required. Act as a leader and effective role model, providing essential managerial support in complex and sensitive situations.
Working for our organisation
University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is one of the largest and most modern in the country. Based across two sites, Royal Stoke in Stoke-on-Trent and County Hospital in Stafford, we are proud to serve around three million people and we're highly regarded for our facilities, teaching and research. We are the specialist centre for major trauma for the North Midlands and North Wales.
All of our employees make a valuable contribution regardless of role here at UHNM and we are proud of our wide range of development packages aimed at ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their true potential.

At University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust we know that investing in, supporting and developing our staff has a direct impact on the quality of care that we deliver. Our employees are as important as our patients and the population that we serve.
