This vacancy is to join our Estates Operations and Maintenance team which includes fully qualified and semi skilled trades colleagues. About the role We are seeking a Semi Skilled Trades Assistant to join the Estates Operations & Maintenance team. We have an established multi-skilled technical team who undertake planned maintenance, installation, alterations and repairs throughout the University. The team also oversees contracted and maintenance repair work and implements minor project and improvement works. The University of York offers an attractive and welcoming working environment, covering 400 acres across sites in Heslington plus City Centre locations, including the recently refurbished Guildhall. You will be working on a variety of building types and technologies, providing essential support to a diverse community of staff, students and the general public who use these facilities. Skills, Experience & Qualification needed Level 2 qualification in a building related subject or equivalent experience. Basic working knowledge of building services/fabric Ability to work either unsupervised and as part of a team. Able to manage own time, use own initiative and work to deadlines IT skills including Google Apps, Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to recognise when assistance and/or guidance is required from a qualified member of Trades staff.
