We are working with a leading consultancy in the water industry that is seeking a Principal Civil/Structural Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Birmingham. About the Role:
As a Principal Civil/Structural Design Engineer, you will play a key role in leading the design and delivery of major water infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for managing a team of engineers and designers, ensuring that projects are completed to the highest technical and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the design and development of civil and structural engineering solutions for water industry projects.
2. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers.
3. Manage and oversee project delivery, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and client specifications.
4. Conduct structural assessments, feasibility studies, and risk evaluations.
5. Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
6. Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
7. Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies.
Key Requirements:
1. Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
2. Chartered Engineer (ICE or IStructE) preferred.
3. Extensive experience in civil/structural design within the water industry (e.g., water treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations).
4. Proficiency in structural design software such as STAAD, TEDDS, or similar.
5. Strong leadership and project management skills.
6. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
7. Experience working in a consultancy environment is highly desirable.
