The Role
Supporting the Project Design Lead / Lead Civil and Structural (C&S) Engineer, you will be responsible for producing C&S design deliverables within single-discipline and multi-discipline engineering, EPCM, or EPC projects. These projects will range from Concept Design to Execution Design and will span various sectors (Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, Food), including both small and large projects, as well as greenfield and brownfield sites.
Responsibilities
1. Carry out all design activities using your initiative to meet agreed timescales and budget.
2. Participate in internal and external design reviews, supporting the Project Design Lead & Lead Civil and Structural Engineer.
3. Interpret general arrangement drawings and scopes of work, developing them into engineering designs.
4. Depending on size and complexity, you may be the responsible C&S designer for one project or a portfolio of projects.
5. Identify changes to the design scope and report them to the Project Design Lead & Lead Engineer, supporting the management of the change process.
6. Drive quality in all engineering designs, including checking discipline design deliverables to company procedures.
Your Profile
If you have the following profile, we look forward to meeting you:
1. More than 5 years of experience as a C&S designer in single-discipline and multi-discipline projects within an Engineering / EPCM / EPC company in one of the mentioned sectors.
2. Deep knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Advance Steel, or similar software, and capable of carrying out designs without supervision.
3. Sound knowledge of C&S engineering and design, as well as other disciplines (EC&I, Mechanical, Piping, and Process).
4. HNC / HND in Civil / Structural Engineering (Preferred).
5. Incorporated Engineer or Engineering Technician Qualification (Preferred).
6. Ability to produce and develop design deliverables including 3D models, GA drawings, steel detailing, reinforced concrete detailing, and relevant schedules.
7. Experience with temporary works designs (Preferred).
8. Ability to assist in the delivery of site surveys of existing assets, including the production of site survey reports.
9. Experience with laser scanning and the production of detailed models from scans (Preferred).
10. Result-oriented, with a 'one time right' mentality, ensuring designs are approved by the Project Design Lead.
11. Ability to liaise and work closely with your project team to ensure correct deliverables.
12. Sound understanding of current British / European Standards, Eurocodes, and EN1090, etc.
13. If you are an experienced designer, you will have the pleasure of teaching and coaching the next generation of C&S designers.
