The Finance Directorate is responsible for the management of the University's financial affairs with the vision to protect, build and enhance the University's financial position. It contributes to the strategy and direction of the University and provides financial advice and support.
We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Finance Business Partner within the Finance Business Partnering Team, leading a team to ensure the provision of a high standard business partnering support for our Schools and Directorates working closely with Deans, Directors and their teams. This is a permanent full-time position.
As a senior member of the University's Finance team, the purpose of this role is to provide financial support for Schools and Directorates, working closely with a range of stakeholders with a focus on business partnering.
This position will suit an individual who enjoys a challenge, who is interested in making a difference and is keen to understand the key drivers of the strands of activity the University is involved with. This includes Teaching activity, Research Activity as well as Service and other externally funded project work. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong organisational skills and technical competencies.
Your priorities will include:
* Take a senior role in a finance team helping to successfully deliver a professional service to a portfolio of customers
* Undertake the preparation of budgets, taking into account risk, probability and contingency planning both in-year and across future years
* Support local senior management teams in engaging with the annual planning and budgeting process to ensure that results and resources are aligned and support the refresh of operational plans
* Host challenge meetings with senior local budget holders and spenders to further promote accountability, value for money and enhanced understanding at all levels
* Responsible for the delivery of accurate and timely routines for both month-end and year-end closes, along with the production of appropriate balance sheet reconciliations
Who we're looking for:
* Fully qualified accountant (ICAEW, ICAS, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
* Experience of internal and external reporting within an organisation of comparable size;
* Experience of communicating financial information to non-finance specialists at all levels across the organisation
