About the Role
12 months contract.
Catering and Hospitality QM is part of the Estates and Facilities Directorate and is responsible for providing catering and hospitality services to various outlets including three cafes, two restaurants, and a large portfolio of hospitality and corporate event spaces. Food production operates from one central kitchen with two satellite kitchens at Mile End, servicing three campus sites.
About You
We are looking for a candidate who has:
* Food Hygiene Certificate level 2
* City and Guilds 706 1/2 or equivalent
* NVQ level 2/3 in Kitchen Services or similar
* In-house or external training qualification on new allergens and procedures
* Experience working in a commercial catering and hospitality environment within higher education or B&I sector
* High standard of food knowledge, cooking ability, and presentation
* In-depth practical experience in the production of high-quality international cuisine
* Experience in stock control and rotation to limit food waste
* Good communication skills with all levels of staff and experience of operational delivery at multiple sites
* Experience in measured and positive conflict resolution
* A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and develop in a busy kitchen environment
* Customer satisfaction focused and driven to provide excellent service and a first-class student experience
* Good sense of kitchen production priorities and time management
* Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining high standards and timeframes
About the Department
Working here at QM Food, we cater for all the students' restaurants, cafes, and hospitality. We are an in-house catering team that also provides catering for residential life events, graduations, and summer schools.
