Equans is looking for a Semi Skilled Operative (M&E) to join our team at the Queen Alexandria Hospital, Portsmouth, PO6 3LY on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £27, - £28, per annum dependent upon skills and experience. In addition there will be a yearly shift allowance of £2, and an excellent benefits package.
What will you deliver?
To undertake planned, preventative maintenance, testing, repairs and new installation work covering a wide range of equipment, services, systems and buildings associated with the running of a large hospital.
1. Support the Estates Management in the provision of a 24hr maintenance Service within the Portsmouth Hospital Trust for the service provider.
2. Undertake any training as required
3. Promote a culture of customer service to both internal and external customers and partners and to liaise with other departments regarding maintenance issues if required
4. Undertake any other reasonable tasks and duties relevant to the post
5. After suitable training and guidance diagnose faults, repair and maintain complex equipment in accordance with Health Technical Memorandum (HTMs) and other specialised hospital equipment.
6. Carry out the work of other trades where there is an interface to the work in hand with a level of competence thats outside core trade.
7. To carry a radio or pager to facilitate immediate response.
8. Work in highly unpleasant working conditions, unblocking drains and sewers, which include biological hazards of body fluids and noxious fumes.
9. To carry out replacement of lamps and cleaning of all types of light fittings
10. To carry out cleaning, labouring and driving tasks associated with Estates maintenance as instructed
11. To observe statutory and other relevant requirements at all times in particular those relating to the Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH regulations and Electrical IEE regulations

Who are we looking for?
Essential:
23. NVQ in maintenance or similar equivalent experience.
24. Building maintenance and systems
25. Basic competence with IT and PDAs
Desirable:
26. Working in a hospital environment
27. Knowledge of other trades
28. Knowledge of HTMs
This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
