Job Description
Temp to Hire - 2nd Shift - 3:00 pm to 2 or 3 am M-F
Starting pay: $17/hr during training, $18.40/hr after completion
Job Purpose:
The Production Machine Operator is responsible for producing products according to specifications, including machine start-up procedures, line speed adjustments, material checks, and quality standards. The machine operator also tracks waste, reports machine issues, participates in team huddles, and helps drive improvement within the production team.
Responsibilities:
* Maintaining a clean machine and work area
* Following all applicable safety policies and procedures
* Adhering to GMPs and General Food Safety Requirements
* Following food Defense Procedures
* Checking the integrity of the package
* Posting and maintaining visual standards
* Monitoring weight and adjusting according to Net Content Procedures
* Loading lids, film, and spices while maintaining records of applicable lots
* Monitoring and recording all stoppages on the line
* Participating in process improvement activities
* Participating in team forums, huddles, and escalation sessions
* Following other duties as required
* Monitoring Metal Detection and maintaining applicable records
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Understanding and ability to adjust stations, drivers, and parameters to produce and maintain product to specification
* Ability to perform change-over of size and topping flavors
* Understanding of common machine faults and corrective actions
* Ability to read and write English
* Completing shift paperwork accurately and promptly
* Ability to clean and restart machine after a jam
* Understanding the importance of safety and quality procedures
* Solid communication skills to interface regularly with production, maintenance, and quality
Quality and Food Safety Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Applying and enforcing all quality & food safety programs by regulatory requirements, FSSC 22000 standards, and customer requirements
* Taking necessary measures when there is a deviation from policies and standards
* Participating and recommending solutions to common quality & food safety issues
* Taking action to continuously improve process targets
* Adhering to food safety programs in the department including GMPs, HACCP plan, and PRPs
* Carrying out OPRP metal detector monitoring for specified lines
* Carrying out OPRP label monitoring
