An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands for a Speech and Language Assistant within the LIFE provision to assist the qualified therapists in delivering an excellent speech & language therapy service to students with a wide range of interaction/communication difficulties.

We are looking for a motivated Speech and Language Assistant to join our team and play a crucial role in developing means of communication appropriate to each student's individual needs, preparing communication materials for assessment and treatment use, and liaising with other members of the multi-disciplinary team on behalf of the Therapist regarding a student's Therapy. In this position, you will create opportunities for communication appropriate throughout the educational provision to enable each young person to communicate to the best of their ability, complete delegated Speech & Language Therapy interventions which may include group work, and complete records ensuring they are accurate, timely and in accordance with the organisational, Professional and Departmental standards and procedures. You will also be responsible for assisting in identifying appropriate equipment and adaptations required in students' external environments and homes and participating and contributing to the Therapist's assessment and treatment planning.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working within SEN, strong organisational skills, a solution-focused mindset, a proactive approach, and good interpersonal skills for working closely with students, families, carers, teachers, and other professionals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively are essential, along with a commitment to providing a high-quality students/staff stakeholder experience.
