We are recruiting enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 nurses to join our Day Stay Unit and Theatre admission Unit.
The Day Stay Unit works alongside the Theatre Admission and Day stay Unit to provide safe & effective care to our patients undergoing day and inpatient surgery across specialties.
These friendly, busy, and dynamic departments operate Monday to Friday 07:00-21:30, 5 days a week, excluding weekends and Public Holidays.
This post will involve working with the surgical patient through the pre-operative and post-operative periods undertaking a nurse led admission and discharge role.
The successful candidate will be expected to complete Band 5 day surgery
competencies.
We are proactive in offering training and educational development which includesPreceptorship for newly qualified Nurses and ongoing training opportunities for all our staff.
Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals, teams and departments while maintaining a professional, friendly character. A willingness to work across the areas is essential as well as flexibility to work within the department shift patterns.

Main duties of the job
Undertakes Band 5 Competency Framework for Day Surgery
Undertakes ISO generic equipment and service specific equipment competencies
Collaborates and communicates with all members of the health care team to ensure safe high quality patient care.
Plan and prepare equipment according to patients needs and procedures
Implement and evaluate care plans as appropriate to surgical requirement and patient's condition.
Monitor and assess patient's condition, responding to changes in condition, proposing / making changes to care plan as required
To be aware of the management of drugs and to adhere to local policies and administer drugs as prescribed
