Volunteers Recruitment Coordinator, Ref: VRC80
Hours: 24 per week (part-time) to include some evening/weekend work
Salary: £18,994 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Location: Office and Community Outreach, Isle of Wight
Age UK Isle of Wight is an independent charity working across all island communities to provide services to residents aged 50+, their carers and families. Our vision is to enable older people on the Isle of Wight to live well, independently, while not feeling isolated or lonely. We offer our employees a generous holiday entitlement, shop and gym membership discounts and (post-qualifying period) healthcare benefits.
Our volunteers play a vital role in enabling us to deliver our services and for this reason, we have created a new role - Volunteers Recruitment Coordinator - to enable us to grow and develop all aspects of volunteering within our Charity.
If you have experience working with older people or those with a vulnerability and you have a passion for the opportunities that volunteering can bring, then this new role could provide the new challenge you are seeking. This is a stand-alone role and as the first point of contact for volunteer recruitment and queries, you must be a confident communicator both verbally and in writing. Highly motivated and capable of working on your own initiative, you should be able to deal effectively with a range of stakeholders to promote volunteering opportunities across Age UK IW, ensuring that all information relating to volunteering is recorded on our database.
You will be responsible for recruiting, inducting, and training volunteers whilst helping to develop the volunteer role within Age UK IW and you will support the effective management of volunteers by being a point of contact for them. Working alongside our team leaders you will identify new opportunities where volunteers can provide additional support to our teams.
You will become the face of volunteering at Age UK IW and manage and attend volunteer recruitment events (at times outside of normal working hours), focused on promoting volunteering opportunities. This role has an office base in Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 1SL but also requires you to regularly travel independently to venues and events all over the Island; ideally therefore, applicants will have a full driving licence and own transport.
If you are a confident communicator, have excellent organisational skills, are a good relationship builder with an open and approachable style then this could be an exciting opportunity for you to shape and develop this new role within our charity. You will ideally need to have experience of recruitment, training and development in the volunteering sector (or be an enthusiastic, experienced volunteer yourself), coupled with knowledge and understanding of the issues relating to volunteering. Previous experience organising, running, and attending events will also be very useful.
If you think you have the experience and skills we are looking for to fill this exciting new role, we look forward to hearing from you.
