About the role: The successful candidate will work closely with Clinical Nurse Consultants (CNCs), clinicians in Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD), General Practice, private service providers, and local communities to support the delivery of immunisation programs. Population Health provides a culturally safe and supportive environment, with joint governance across services to ensure effective and inclusive service delivery. The role is backed by a dedicated Immunisation team, including a Nurse Manager, Clinical Lead, Aboriginal Health Manager, CNCs, Aboriginal Health Worker, and Administrative Officers. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, with the ability to convey health-related messages to diverse audiences. Key strengths include curiosity and the ability to engage with a variety of cultures, experiences, and beliefs, as well as proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. The role is supported by the NSW Health Immunisation network, offering consultation, collaboration, and regular updates to LHD teams. Where you’ll be working: Located on Awabakal Land at the Wallsend Health Campus, the Immunisation team is part of the Health Protection service, HNE Population Health Unit. The Health Protection service is responsible for the surveillance and control of communicable diseases, coordination of immunisation, environmental health, epidemiology and public health research. Population Health actively encourages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff to join the Population Health Aboriginal Network Group and the Aboriginal Cultural Determinants Committee. As an immunisation advocate, the successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of the National Immunisation Program. Requirements: Our successful candidate will possess the following: Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with APRHA and an Authorised Nurse Immuniser. Eligible to drive in NSW.
