Assistant Psychologist in Neurorehabilitation

An opportunity for a part time Assistant Psychologist has arisen in neurorehabilitation services in The Bassetlaw Long Term Neurological Conditions Team. The post will involve working under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist as part of a multidisciplinary team in community settings providing rehabilitation to patients with neurological conditions including stroke. The role is temporary up to 31st August 2025, Agenda for Change Band 5. Interviews are to be held face to face on 16.01.25.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role will be to implement mood and cognition care pathways in accordance with national guidance including conducting psychometric assessments with patients and guided interventions within their own homes. You will contribute to the provision of training the multidisciplinary team with regard to patients' psychological and neuropsychological wellbeing in order to support a stepped care model. You will support audit activities including gathering outcome information, supporting service evaluation and preparing related reports. You will support service related research as appropriate. The service will be run in line with relevant national guidelines, and you will be encouraged to engage with appropriate CPD plus mandatory training to ensure best practice.
You must have a full UK driving licence and access to a car for business purposes.
Job responsibilities
* To carry out service evaluation or service-related research within neurological services under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist. This may include carrying out literature reviews, planning evaluations, collecting and analysing data & producing written reports. This work involves close liaison with staff within the multidisciplinary team.
* To support the mood and cognition stepped care pathways including the completion of psychometric assessments relating to neurological populations.
* To support and carry out patient programmes and interventions relating to neurorehabilitation.
* To attend multidisciplinary team meetings as part of this work.
* To offer support to family members, carers, health staff and other professionals as appropriate.
* To contribute to delivering psychological training to healthcare staff including the preparation of training materials.
* To be responsible for maintaining a high standard of written and electronic record keeping in line with Directorate; Trust, HCPC standards.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* 1st class or upper second class honours degree in Psychology
* Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
* Further relevant postgraduate training e.g. in clinical or other applied psychology disciplines or neurosciences
Work Experience
* Substantive experience of working with adults with psychological needs in physical or mental health settings
* Experience of team work
* Experience of working in a Clinical Neuropsychology or Clinical Psychology Service under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist
* Experience of psychometric testing of cognition
* Experience of working with neurological populations
* Experience of developing psychological resources
* Experience of presentations and teaching
* Experience of completing risk assessments
* Experience of delivering group or individual psychological interventions
* Experience of reviewing literature and writing clinically relevant reports

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 a year (pro rata for part-time)
