The Finance team at Canterbury City Council are looking for a new Finance Systems Officer to join them. As Finance Systems Officer you will be integral in the efficient running of our finance systems, heading up the finance systems administration team. About this job opportunity in Canterbury: You will be responsible for the finance systems used within the council and supporting the wider finance team. You will be a key member of developing the systems, including completing user acceptance testing and be an integral part of a systems upgrades. Here’s what you’ll get up to: Maintenance of our finance system, undertaking testing and development of reports Liaising with support companies carrying out system upgrades Managing your workload effectively through managing work schedules Responding to user queries, carrying out investigations and problem-solving Assisting in the creation of bespoke reports Liaising with users to improve processes Liaising with IT to ensure existing processes are working correctly and investigating should they fail Setting up budget forecasting within the system to role out to all budget holders Administering system processes for year-end, including supporting the accountants in their year-end tasks Your expected work pattern: Full-time contract at 37 hours per week Hybrid role working from home and in the offices to support your team About you, the ideal Finance Systems Officer for the job: Your knowledge : Understanding of finance and accounting processes Knowledge of financial systems and reporting tools Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Your experience: Experience in developing processes within a complex IT system Experience in taking an innovative approach to service design and delivery Working in a business environment with a financial aspect Your skills: Organisational skills to prioritise a high and diverse workload Good communicator Analytical and problem-solving skills Attention to detail Your qualifications: Good understanding of English and Maths at GCSE grade 4 or above Have an academic background in IT or gained sufficient experience working with IT systems from a user development perspective For an informal chat to find out more about the role or what it's like to work for Canterbury City Council’s Finance and Procurement team, please contact Rob May, Head of Finance on 07702 180551 or email rob.maycanterbury.gov.uk
