A prestigious City law firm is seeking a Risk & Compliance Officer to join its Risk and Compliance team based in London. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the client and matter onboarding process, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations. This is a dynamic and fast-paced role requiring strong organisational skills and a proactive mindset. The role is particularly suited to a candidate eager to expand their expertise in risk and compliance within a leading law firm.
Responsibilities:
* Conducting thorough client due diligence (CDD) processes, particularly for corporate entities and complex structures.
* Collaborating with fee earners to ensure all necessary onboarding information, including conflict checks, AML checks, and risk assessments, is completed.
* Performing screening checks (Sanctions, PEPs, adverse media) and monitoring enhanced due diligence clients, maintaining and updating relevant registers. Experience with LSEG World-Check would be advantageous.
* Handling AML queries and escalating matters to senior compliance officers where necessary.
* Managing a shared inbox for client and matter onboarding requests, ensuring timely and efficient processing.
* Assisting with risk and compliance projects aligned with the firm's strategic priorities.
* Carrying out administrative tasks and ad hoc duties as required.
Personal Attributes and Skills:
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in a risk and compliance role, ideally within a law firm.
* Strong background in reviewing risk assessments and client onboarding procedures.
* Proven experience in conducting CDD/KYC for corporate entities, with exposure to complex corporate structures being an advantage.
* Familiarity with regulatory compliance and handling risk-related queries in a legal setting.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
* Strong analytical skills and high standards of written and oral communication.
* Proficiency in IT systems relevant to compliance processes.
* A proactive approach to learning and development in an evolving regulatory environment.
