An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vehicle Technician based at Essex Police workshops in Boreham near Chelmsford.
This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to have a minimum of 5 years experience of working in a motorcycle workshop environment. It is essential that you can evidence a good understanding of motorcycle maintenance, electrical systems, diagnostics and health and safety.
About the role:
In this role you will be required to undertake the full duties of a Motorcycle Technician carrying out the service, maintenance & repairs on motorcycles in a safe & efficient manner using such skills and knowledge as required. You may also carry out safety inspections, diagnostic testing and problem solving on a wide range of fleet vehicles and Police vehicle equipment (Following any required training). You will complete documentation work including job sheets, service sheets, parts required requests & electronic inputting of labour for time taken to complete each job. In addition to this you will also be required to modify all types of fleet vehicles, fitting specialised Police equipment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are an essential part of the role.
You will prioritise vehicles and maintenance ensuring completion in accordance with procedures in operation to the standard and Quality required, ensuring warranty claims are identified for recovery from manufacturers.
You will have experience, knowledge and a good understanding of the repair and maintenance of a wide range of motorcycles with the ability to provide specialist advice on vehicle modification and repair.
A proven track record of the service, maintenance and diagnostics of a wide range of motorcycles is essential and should be underpinned by a recognised qualification in motorcycle repair and maintenance, equivalent to City & Guilds or equivalent NVQ levels 2 & 3.

Essex Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £40,890.00.
