HEIW has an ambitious Quality Improvement Skills Training (QIST) Programme which aims to equip healthcare professionals with the appropriate skills and knowledge to undertake Quality Improvement (QI) activities that will lead to improvements in patient safety, workforce wellbeing and environmental sustainability.
This programme of work involves collaboration with NHS Executive Quality Safety and Improvement, Health Boards across NHS Wales, local faculty teams and specialty schools. HEIW's focus on improving QI capacity and capability in NHS Wales as part of postgraduate education and training across the healthcare workforce has increased demand for delivery of QI training, project support and increasingly, advanced QI training experience.
The post holder will lead the delivery of the HEIW QIST Programme across a range of specialties and professions and will be expected to lead the future development of the programme across the organisation. This will require development and review of policies and resources which inform the programme and appropriate compliance with postgraduate training standards.
Main duties of the job
* Lead the QIST Team in the delivery of the HEIW QI Educational Agenda for the organisation.
* Lead on the operational delivery of the QIST programme, working with the QIST Management Team and QIST Tutors to enable educational opportunities as part of postgraduate training in Wales.
* Support the implementation of the HEIW Quality Management Framework across the wider directorate and organisation.
* Support the development of Continuous Improvement and Innovation as an enabling function of the wider HEIW organisation.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Membership of a Medical or Dental Royal College
* Full GMC or GDC registration
* Detailed knowledge of postgraduate training curricula across different professions and specialty groups, including different programmes of learning and assessment.
* Successful completion of Advanced Level Quality Improvement Training such as IHI Improvement Advisor or Scottish Improvement Leader or equivalent.
* Demonstratable experience of undertaking advanced QI activities and supporting others with Quality Improvement at all levels.
* Awareness of current national policy developments in Postgraduate education and training.
* Knowledge of the implementation of Quality Management Systems.
Experience
* Experience of leadership in the context of Quality Improvement and education.
* Proven organisational skills and evidence of effective workload management.
* Demonstratable effective integration of clinical experience and QI knowledge to deliver QI training sessions across multiple different groups and settings, including to other trainers and senior clinicians.
* Experience of working with and influencing stakeholders.
* Experience of presenting to a range of audiences with different levels of experience in a variety of settings.
* Experience of the application of advanced QI methodologies to improve outcomes.
* Experience of developing strategic plans in the context of Postgraduate Education & Training and Improvement.
* Experience of up to date educational approaches to curriculum and assessment in the context of Postgraduate Training.
