Polytec are looking for a Purchasing Manager to manage all procurement activities for our client based just north of Cambridge. Travel is required for this role, so you will need to have a full, clean driving licence with own transport.
Responsibilities:
1. Define supply chain strategy
2. Identify, select and approve new suppliers
3. Negotiate / establish contractual agreements
4. Cost reduction targets
5. Stock ordering / lean inventory management / forecasting
6. Ensure materials are delivered in time to support customer demand
7. Escalation path for purchasing / supplier issues
8. Continuous improvement activities
9. Cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives
10. New product introduction
11. Some international travel will be required
Requirements:
1. Degree in a relevant field
2. MCIPS preferred
3. Extensive supply chain experience within electronics, telecommunications or consumer goods
4. Management of complex global supplier / customer relationships
5. Team management experience
6. Excellent IT skills, competent using Microsoft Excel and Dynamics AX
7. Experience of offshore contract manufacturing management
8. Ability to influence at senior level
