JobPurpose
To deliver high qualityteaching within the telecommunications area delivering BTEC Level 2Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and TelecomsProfessionals through undertaking one or more of the following keyresponsibilities.
Tutors are allfulltime in the classroom.
MainResponsibilities
1. Designand deliver teaching materials through use of appropriate teachinglearning and assessmentmethods.
2. Challenge thinking fosterdebate and develop the ability of students to engage and develop intheir telecommunicationstraining.
3. Facilitate studentprojects and/or assignments whereappropriate.
4. Mark and assess workand examinations and provide feedback to students. Contribute tosetting assignments.
5. Be aware of anyHealth and Safety disability equality or welfare issues and raiseany concerns with the QualityManager.
Planning andOrganising
The postholder will plantheir workload and use teaching resources and facilities asappropriate to deliver designated activities. They will coordinatewith others e.g. academic staff in relevant departments to ensurethat student needs and expectations aremet.
DecisionMaking
The postholder will contributeto the design and delivery of modules or designated teaching withinthe telecommunications role. They may identify the need fordeveloping the content or structure of modules with academic staffand make proposals on how this should beachieved.

Knowledge Skillsand Experience
Postholders willtypically hold a Level 3 qualification along with substantialprofessional experience in telecommunications. They will bepractitioners in their specialist area bringing a breadth ofexperience and knowledge of their field of expertise significantlycontributing to the student experience and ensuring thedistinctiveness of the course. They will understand key academicpolicies and procedures and the quality assurance measures in placefor their activities. They must be knowledgeable about inclusiveand nondiscriminatory practices and be able to analyse and assessstudent contributions in class andassignments.
