This role will be part of our “Finding and Matching” service; a close team which provides support to approximately 60 people with learning disabilities living in their own homes in North London. Your contribution and ideas will be highly valued and you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to a growing service.
As a Support Worker, you will provide support to service users to ensure their safety, health and wellbeing. Duties will include support with day-to-day aspects such as shopping, meals, personal care, and attending appointments, as well as with leisure, social and physical activities, hobbies and personal interests with an emphasis on helping develop skills, confidence and relationships.
1. Ability to work across the London Boroughs of Islington, Camden and Haringey.
2. To support male and female service users across the Boroughs of Haringey, Islington and Camden in accordance with Centre 404’s policies and procedures.
3. To support a male service user, living in Islington, on a one-to-one basis, using positive behaviour support principles.
4. Ability to implement safeguarding procedures, including following up on concerns, recording and reporting.
5. Ability to communicate well, with colleagues, service users, carers, and professionals.
6. To support service users to meet their personal goals, in accordance with their support plans.
7. Good problem-solving skills and ability to use one's initiative, within a lone-working setting.
8. Supporting them to attend the Friday evening disco and other social events during evenings and weekends.
9. To be able to work weekdays and weekends.
10. To participate in staff training, and attend regular team meetings, and supervisions as part of Centre 404’s commitment to individual and team development.
