Job Introduction
An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Information Officer to join a dynamic and motivated Accountancy team on a permanent basis, helping Staffordshire to face the issues currently challenging local government in the area of special educational needs.
The post is hybrid working (working from home and typically we come into the office at Staffordshire Place 1, Stafford 1-2 days a week).
Our Accountancy Division provides a range of services with the aim of providing strategic financial advice, securing the stewardship of assets, supporting effective decision making and enabling good financial management.
The post sits in part of a friendly and approachable team within the Decision Making Support Unit.
Main Responsibilities
The main responsibilities for this role will be:
* Recording of financial information relating to pupils with special educational need.
* Recording and processing payments to educational providers.
* Raising debtor invoices.
* Assisting in maintaining financial system processes, coding hierarchies and control arrangements to provide accurate budget records.
* Processing accruals, prepayments, journals, and budget adjustments.
* Dealing with queries from schools and providers about funding for pupils.
* Monitoring the integrity of budget records to ensure accurate reporting of spending.
The Ideal Candidate
Ideally, you should be AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualified; however, we are happy to consider your application if you don't have this qualification but have experience working in a financial environment.
We are also looking for you to:
* Be practiced in the production of accurate financial information and will have a good understanding of business processes and controls.
* Have good numeric and literacy skills, be effective in the use of spreadsheet and other office applications, and capable of retrieving and manipulating information for the production of reports.
* Have the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across disciplines.
* Work flexibly and creatively to meet changing priorities.
