Job Responsibilities
1. Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, control systems, and fixtures in commercial buildings.
2. Inspect electrical systems and components to identify hazards, initial verification of new installations, complete test certification, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
3. Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and health and safety parameters.
4. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
5. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
6. Perform preventative maintenance.
7. Read, interpret, and implement electrical drawings and schematics.
8. Perform energy audits and recommend energy-saving solutions for commercial facilities.
9. Identify hazardous or faulty systems.
10. Adhere strictly to all health & safety protocols.
Essential Skills
* Proven experience as a commercial electrician.
* Experience with commercial and industrial electrical systems.
* Ability to use electrical and hand tools, read electrical drawings, and schematics.
* Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations.
* Strong understanding of electrical systems and safety procedures.
* Problem-solving skills.
* Relevant qualifications, ideally including NVQ3.
* Good communication skills.
* Full clean driver's license.
