Positive Behaviour Support Clinical Specialist - Hesley Group

We are looking for a Positive Behaviour Support Clinical Specialist to join us to support the delivery of high quality, person-centred support to improve the quality of life of adults with learning disabilities. You will be a key part of the multi-disciplinary team within services and will also be part of our Therapeutic Services team, comprising of Applied Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy.
This role is within two of our small residential homes, based in Thorne (South Yorkshire) and Scunthorpe (Lincolnshire). However, travel to other Hesley Group services will be required for team meetings and based on service needs.
This is a full time role (part time will be considered).
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit people who have:
1. Enthusiasm for engaging autistic individuals and people with intellectual disabilities in planning their own futures.
2. Extensive experience in working with autistic individuals and people with intellectual disabilities.
3. Extensive experience in collaborative approaches to working with behaviours of concern and reducing restrictive practices.
4. MSc in PBS/ABA or equivalent, with an in-depth understanding of the principles and application of PBS.
5. Extensive experience of carrying out behavioural and skills assessment and interventions, and in implementing PBS in MDT settings.
6. Extensive experience in coaching, training and supporting staff.
7. Experience of providing supervision and supporting service development.

Brief description of key responsibilities:
Working within the PBS framework, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to understand people’s needs holistically. You may work in a range of settings which include residential, educational and vocational. You will work alongside colleagues to ensure that services have the knowledge and skills to deliver high quality support environments. Working together with the people we support, their support staff, families and other key people, you will help people to identify and achieve their goals. You will work autonomously to carry out specialist and complex assessment and intervention, coaching and motivating others to bring about meaningful change. As a PBS Clinical Specialist, you will have the opportunity to support service/organisation wide PBS initiatives and will supervise the work of others implementing interventions.
Key Result areas:
Clinical
1. To conduct descriptive functional behavioural assessment and communicate this to others in an accessible format.
2. To develop and implement multi-component holistic behavioural interventions.
3. To communicate effectively with other professionals in the multi-disciplinary team and attend multi-disciplinary meetings and reviews.
4. To chair meetings with multiple key people.
5. To produce professional reports.
6. To be involved, as appropriate, in pre-admission assessments and transition planning.
7. To provide specialist advice, direct coaching and consultation to support staff, families and professionals.
8. To manage highly complex information and sensitive situations related to behaviours of concern.
9. To communicate information to others in a skilled and sensitive manner.
10. To monitor progress through the use of data collection, at an individual, service and organisational level.
Training and supervision
1. To take part in regular professional supervision and appraisal.
2. To maintain an active engagement with current developments in the field of Positive Behaviour Support.
3. To maintain an active engagement with current relevant legislation, guidance and initiatives in relation to people with intellectual disabilities, those who are autistic and people who may at times present with behaviours of concern.
4. To maintain an active engagement with knowledge of restrictive practice reduction.
5. To continue to develop skills and knowledge through further training.
6. To provide clinical and line management supervision for staff implementing PBS interventions or completing PBS training.
7. To share practice through relevant forums and conferences, locally and nationally.
Research and service evaluation
1. To implement evidence-based practice in individual work with the people we support.
2. To undertake and supervise research activities.
3. To contribute to service/organisation wide initiatives and evaluation.
Information technology
1. To use information technology systems to facilitate communication with multiple key people.
2. To conduct data entry and analysis using Excel.
3. To use Word for the recording of all information related to assessment and intervention, including clinical case notes and report writing.
4. To use PowerPoint for the development and delivery of training activities.
General
1. To maintain professional registration with the appropriate governing body, if appropriate.

Qualifications
Essential
* Masters level qualification in ABA /PBS or equivalent.
* Registered as a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) or UK Behaviour Analyst, UKBA (cert).
* Registered member with the UK Society of Behaviour Analysis (UK-SBA).
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Training in clinical supervision.
* Training in management or leadership.
Experience
