The primary purpose of this role is to be the first point of contact for patients, providing a friendly, efficient, and polite service. Due to the nature of the business, it is necessary that the successful candidate is flexible with regards to shifts and providing cover at either Surgery should the need arise.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Proactively communicate information between relevant patients, GPs, and colleagues.
2. Answer telephones promptly to reduce call waiting times for patients.
3. Demonstrate efficiency, knowledge, and skill in navigating calls, ensuring patient needs are addressed in full, which may involve signposting to a more appropriate service.
4. Set a positive professional example to both patients and colleagues.
5. Support colleagues in all aspects of the role, being mindful of when further assistance is needed.
6. Prioritize tasks and remain calm in a busy environment, dealing with competing demands from patients and doctors.
7. Recognize when it is appropriate to fulfill the whole patient encounter at the time rather than passing on work to a colleague.
8. Adhere to and enforce all surgery policies and procedures, keeping up to date with new policies and changes as required.
