As part of our Manufacturing Assembly Integration Test (MAIT) team, we're seeking a dedicated Composites Technician to play a pivotal role in the assembly and testing of hardware for both internal and externally funded projects. Why you should apply: Competitive salary up to £40,000 Engage in groundbreaking projects related to space and aerospace industries Opportunities for career progression and skills development Work within a collaborative and innovative engineering teamComposites Technician Duties: Manufacturing of fibre-based materials components such as Carbon Fibre/ Glass Fibre / Aramid Fibre-based components Processing fibre-based materials through material layup, resin impregnation, VARTM, or Autoclave-based curing methods followed by finishing processes Manufacturing simple tooling/moulds and patterns using epoxy or foam-based materials Supporting the assembly of R&D and Space flight hardware Contributing to the writing of Manufacturing Assembly Procedures (MAPs) and Test Procedures Facility management support Supporting Project PA Managers in defining/writing qualified MAIT processes Adherence to internal processes and identification/proposal of process improvements Participating in customer/internal reviews and visiting subcontractors/suppliers as required Flexibility in working hours to meet schedules, including the occasional long day/weekendsWhat we’re looking for: Essential skills and experience: Strong discipline in engineering knowledge with significant experience in the assembly of precision components Demonstrable experience in composites manufacturing and using assembly procedures Comprehensive knowledge of engineering drawings, surface finishes, tolerances, materials Proficiency in Microsoft Office software Excellent problem-solving skills with a pragmatic and logical approach Exceptional interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills Strong organisational, task management, and multi-tasking skills Ability to work independently with forward planning to achieve targetsDesirable: Apprenticeship trained in Mechanical Engineering highly advantageous Previous experience in the Space Industry and knowledge of ECSS standards Understanding of aerospace processes and components Eligibility to gain security clearance (must have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years)Application Process: We aim to respond to all applicants within 5 working days.
