About Music on Sea
Music on Sea is the music service that serves the local authority area of Southend on Sea City Council. The area is a seaside city, a unitary authority having separated from Essex. It is small in area but densely populated with wards of high deprivation surrounded by more affluent areas.
Southend is served by 33 primary and 12 secondary schools including four grammar and two faith schools making the secondary population very transient with many students travelling in from Essex and beyond. Consequently, a significant number of Southend students attend neighbouring Essex secondary schools.
The lead partner is Music on Sea, which is part of the local authority. The Hub is overseen by the Greater Essex Music Hub; Essex County Council as the Hub Lead Organisation and Thurrock Council.
Your new role:
An exciting opportunity to join Southend on Sea City Council on a permanent basis as the Music Service Support Officer for the Music on Sea (Southend on Sea Music Service). We are looking for someone to fulfil a role central to the Service, with a focus on ensuring all frontline delivery is administrated in a timely manner and through working with the Lead for the Service to ensure accuracy in the collation of all data required. This role will also take a lead in ensuring the accuracy and continued implementation of the Music Services internal administration system, finance, invoicing and management of the website to ensure this is accurate, fit for purpose and accessible. The role will provide effective support to enable the successful transition of music services into the centrally coordinated Greater Essex Music Hub (GEMH) for the region.
You will be based at the Civic Centre (at least 2 – 3 days per week), agile work in a number of schools or settings across Southend with a willingness to travel privately or by public transport or work from home (as agreed with the line manager).
What you'll need to succeed:
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience of delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service. They will work flexibly with different key stakeholders, families, schools and children and young people. Proven software package and digital media platforms/tools skills and experience are expected. You will be able to work under pressure and within short deadlines, balance workload, and prioritise effectively. You will be able to work as part of a team with a ‘can do’ and cooperative approach. You will evidence the ability to review and refine systems and processes and ensure consistency of approach across the team. Strong collaborative, interpersonal and communication skills are essential. You will be able to work under pressure and within short deadlines, balance workload, and prioritise effectively. Education is to RFQ Level 3 or equivalent by experience.
