Interim Senior Commercial Property Lawyer

Key Requirements:
1. Qualified Solicitor or Barrister.
2. Experience of advocacy before Courts/Tribunals/Inquiries.
3. Experience of litigation procedures.
4. Experience of all elements of commercial property is essential, particularly for private clients.
5. Strong ICT skills across all Microsoft products particularly Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
The work involved will relate mainly to the Pension Fund’s property investment holdings, but there are other aspects of the Pension Fund’s legal work that the successful candidate may be asked to assist with.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Undertake and have personal responsibility for a mixed caseload of litigation and advice.
2. Undertake advocacy at all levels of Court/at Tribunals as appropriate, including the preparation and management of cases.
3. Provide a full range of professional legal advice and services to the Council and its committees on matters relating to local government and its partners, as directed from time to time.
4. Draft and settle legal documentation.
5. Ensure that Council officers and service departments are acting in accordance with the Council’s Constitution and Governance framework on matters within the post’s knowledge and control.
6. Ensure that a responsive and cost-effective service is provided to Council officers and service departments.
7. Carry out the service in accordance with the Council’s customer care, health and safety, and equalities agendas.
8. Keep up to date with developments in local government and the law which are relevant to the post, to maintain the correct level of continuing professional development, and at all times act in accordance with the Solicitors Code of Conduct.
9. Use appropriately the information and communications technology of Legal Services when carrying out work.
