About You and This Role
As a Plant Operator, you will be responsible for operating assigned equipment or areas of the plant, ensuring safe, reliable, and optimal performance. You will perform and report on operational activities, utilizing your knowledge and experience to proactively manage the plant. You will work closely with shift team members to resolve unplanned events and escalate issues when necessary. Additionally, you may provide training to less experienced operators.
Responsibilities
Follow Operating Discipline policies, principles, procedures, standards, and practices to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
Operate and field check process equipment, monitor process conditions, key performance metrics, equipment, and control systems.
Perform scheduled operational tasks and resolve unplanned events.
Collaborate with shift team members to balance workload and ensure timely completion of tasks.
Conduct effective shift relief to ensure smooth communication and handoff to the arriving shift team.
Maintain qualifications in assigned areas and complete training goals promptly.
Mentor and train new and existing operations personnel on process operation and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
Higher National Diploma (HND) or a Foundation Degree. Equivalent Apprenticeship program in Dow. in Process Technology or a related field preferred.
Equivalent years of experience in process operations, manufacturing, or a related field required if no degree.
Production Unit certifications typically required.

Established basic technical skills to perform routine work activities using existing processes and methods.
Strong problem-solving abilities and proactive approach to plant operations.
Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with shift team members.
Ability to mentor and train less experienced operators.
Knowledge of operating discipline policies and procedures.

Operator progression is managed at the site level.
Utilize discretionary time to address skills and knowledge gaps and enable sustainable performance results for the facility.
Proactively identify improvements and opportunities using facility improvement processes and management of change processes.
