Hays are recruiting for a job as a Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant in Newport for a Special Educational Needs School which caters for pupils aged 3-19 with a variety of additional learning needs. This role will consist of working with small groups of pupils with additional learning needs aged between 6 and 8. The school prides itself on its fantastic facilities and the positive learning environment which they are able to provide for their pupils. Through this positive learning environment, pupils can fully realise their own potential within a safe and enjoyable setting. Your new roleThe job is confirmed long-term for an immediate start, working 5 days a week. Duties relating to this role include but are not limited to:
1. Working with small groups of pupils agreed 6-8 with additional learning needs.
2. Demonstrating high levels of patience and empathy when dealing with potentially challenging behaviour.
3. Creating and maintaining a safe, positive, and enjoyable learning environment.
4. Assisting teachers to implement their lesson plans by ensuring that the children are engaged and cared for throughout.
5. Working closely as part of a quick, efficient, and consistent team with other members of the teaching staff.
What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this role, it is required that you possess at least 40 days of relevant experience working or volunteering within a school over the course of the last 2 – 3 years. Some of the key attributes and skills needed for this role include empathy, calmness, respect, dedication, and patience. Further desired traits include responsiveness, problem-solving skills,mitment, and a high degree of motivation.
