We are looking for enthusiastic Band 5 nurses with neonatal experience, who are able to work alongside our highly reputable multidisciplinary team. We also welcome experienced adult intensive care nurses with transferable skills who might be looking to change to a different career pathway.
You will be offered the opportunity to complete training which includes the Neonatal Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Special Care/High Dependency Course, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Course.
The Neonatal Unit is renowned for its specialist services; we are a level 3 provider in the South London Neonatal Network. The Neonatal Unit experiences a high level of activity with associated complex acuity; therefore, we need experienced neonatal nurses to join our hard-working team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a key member in relation to the development of practice in the Neonatal Unit. They will work independently/autonomously and at times without direct supervision, accountable for their own professional working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of family-centered care principles.
1. To work with support within a multi-disciplinary team to provide continuing care to a specified group of patients from admission to discharge.
2. To supervise and teach junior members of staff and learners as appropriate.
3. To maintain own personal development with support.
4. To be a safe and effective practitioner able to provide high-quality nursing care to patients and support to relatives.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Practice
1. To practice within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and adhere to this at all times.
2. To promote children's well-being and safeguard them from potential or actual harm.
3. To assess, plan, and evaluate individualised programmes of care to children and young people in partnership with the patient, their carers and the multi-disciplinary team using a family-centered approach to care.
4. To support and assist in the health education of patients and their families.
5. To ensure care is delivered in accordance with the latest evidence-based practice guidelines.
6. To ensure that patients receive high-quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs, and doctrines.
7. To ensure that patients and parents/carers are informed as appropriate and consent is obtained according to current policy.
8. To maintain up-to-date and comprehensive records of care in accordance with NMC, Trust, and legal requirements.
9. To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
10. To support junior colleagues, students, and visitors to the department.
Education and Research
1. To assist in the teaching and practice development of junior colleagues and students.
2. To demonstrate the use of information and research findings to support and promote evidence-based practice within the clinical area.
3. To participate in research and audit within the unit.
4. To assist in setting up protocols and guidelines to enhance best practice.
5. To assist in auditing these protocols and guidelines.
6. To participate in Trust and Care Group initiatives to develop nursing practice.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Nurse (RGN) or RN Child/Adult Registered Nurse with active NMC registration.
* Good understanding of the NMC code of Professional Conduct.
* Able to solve and escalate problems and issues.
* Experience of working in the relevant area e.g., Adult critical care; Emergency department; cardiac intensive care.
* Experience in Neonatal or Paediatric nursing.
* Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations.
* Interest to develop knowledge of the clinical specialty and own practice.
* Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal).
* Specialist neonatal qualification (formally ENB 405).

Salary: £35,964 to £43,780 a year Per Annum Including High Cost Area
