An excellent, well-resourced special school in Yeovil is looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant. You may have worked as a support worker, in-class support worker or a Learning Support Advisor previously. You may have a related qualification or the ability to demonstrate relevant experience. You would be able to support children with a range of special educational needs including learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), sensory, speech and language impairments and behavioural difficulties.
The school has great feedback from parents and supply staff. The staff team is supportive and welcoming. The school is easily accessible by public transport. The school needs people who can commit to 5 days a week. If you are experienced and able to work full time this can be reflected in your rate of pay.
Main Responsibilities:
- You will need to be confident in adapting the lesson activity according to the pupil's individual needs
- Creating and maintaining a stimulating learning environment for the pupils to achieve and thrive
- Always ensure the safety and well-being of students
- Helping students to develop social skills and self-regulation skills
- Assisting the teacher with classroom management
The pay rate is GBP12.81 an hour including holiday pay. The day is 7 hours with an unpaid 30 min lunch break. Your daily rate of pay would be GBP83.29 but with a potential to earn more based on your level of experience.

- Have an interest in supporting children/young people
- Right to work in the UK (Valid Visa)
- Relevant references and DBS/police checks if necessary
- Able to work 5 days a week (term time only) 8:30 am - 3:30pm
