Internal Quality Assurer
Location: Home based, Flexible working hours
Job Title: Quality Assurance / IQA
Reporting To: Quality Assurance Manager
Salary: Negotiable based on experience
Terms of Employment: Part time with a view to moving to fulltime, Freelance considered
Purpose of Role:
To directly support the Quality Assurance Manager and SMT Team with Internal Quality Assurance whilst also supporting on the strategy for quality improvement and contribution to the design and development of curriculum resources and offers.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out internal verification and quality assurance activities, ensuring that apprenticeship standards are delivered in accordance with the Education Inspection Framework and meet the requirements of the Independent End Point Assessment Organisations and Awarding Bodies.
Day to day, you will be part of a team that understands the organisation's business strategy and its future capability needs in order to identify priorities across the organisation and support the creation of learning environments and resources where Tutors (and in turn apprentices) can continuously develop to be their best.
Key Accountabilities:
* To support, motivate and develop Tutors to deliver effective teaching, learning and assessment to maximise apprentice progress and positive outcomes.
* Internal quality assurance activities to ensure best practice across delivery of all apprenticeship standards (Healthcare and some professional services) including conducting regular Tutor observations of teaching and learning (OTLs) as per the Pier Training quality assurance strategy.
* Internal quality assurance activities to ensure that all Diploma and Apprenticeship standard related assessments meet the required standards as indicated by awarding organisations.
* Effective updating and completion of Pier Training sampling plan.
* Supporting standardisation activities.
* Support the creation of dynamic teaching resources.
* Work with the SMT management team to support Tutors in ensuring timely completion of Diploma, Functional Skills and the overall apprenticeship standard including EPA.
* Support external quality assurance monitoring visits where required.
* Identify areas for improvement in the delivery of apprenticeship standards, assessment practices and procedures and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement changes.
* Work with the Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) to co-ordinate the ongoing development of flexible learning solutions for apprentices.
* Work with the QAM and SMT team to implement actions to address the recommendations of the annual self-assessment report (SAR) and quality improvement plan (QIP).
* Provide support and guidance to apprentices as required including ad hoc teaching sessions.
* To function as an advocate (where required) in resolving problems between apprentices, employers, and parents (where applicable).
* Undertake assessment and onboarding activities when and if required by the business.
* Attend internal team and other meetings as required including a monthly performance 121 with your line manager.
* Understand and advocate Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework and the importance of the key areas of delivery i.e. ‘Quality of Education’.
* Understand the Education and Skills Funding Agency accountability framework and minimum requirements for delivering apprenticeships.
* Be committed to understanding and adhering to Pier Training’s Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding and Prevent, Health and Safety policies and procedures.
* Deliver and assess (where required) assessment qualifications (TAQA), Diplomas and or apprenticeship standards to Pier staff.
* Support effective Induction of new Tutors to the organisation.
General Duties:
* Ensure the quality standards and performance measures applying to the role are met and facilitate continuous improvements in all aspects of the post.
* Undergo any self-development and CPD activities as necessary for success in the role.
* Incorporate into the role, the philosophy, values, and behaviours stated in Pier Training’s mission and strategic plans.
* Function as an ambassador of Pier Training at all times whilst undertaking the role, particularly in the employers’ workplace. Positively promote Pier Training and its reputation at all times, referring all matters of apprentice and employer need to your line manager.
* Promote within Pier Training, a positive approach to security and discipline. Undertake any other responsibilities that senior management representative may from time to time require.
* Maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
Qualifications and Attainments:
* At least a level 5 qualification or equivalent, for example (L5 Diploma in leadership for Health and Social Care / DTLLS / L5 Education & Training).
* At least a L3 certificate of competency in Health and Social Care to include evidence of practical experience in a Health and Social care clinical setting (i.e. Hospitals).
* Assessment and Internal Quality Assurance qualifications - both theory and competence-based units (L4 TAQA(IQA) and L3(Assessment) or equivalent).
* A minimum GCSE grade 9-4 / A-C in English and maths or equivalent - e.g. Functional Skills level 2.
* Excellent subject knowledge of current apprenticeship standards, particularly clinical healthcare.
* Educated to high level standard – evidence of an understanding of higher-level academic study (e.g. Degree or similar).
* A teaching qualification (Cert Ed/Diploma).
* Experience working in NHS trusts / Hospitals.
Relevant Experience and Attributes:
* A minimum of 3 years past experience within the healthcare sector, Hospitals / clinical care / Adult care settings etc.
* A minimum of 2 years in a current IQA role.
* Evidence of conducting OTLs (or similar).
* Evidence of conducting IQA activity against accredited standards.
* Experience and competency of quality assuring apprenticeship standards.
* Experience of EPortfolios such as OneFile.
* Experience, skills, and aptitude of working creatively and proactively with a range of healthcare sector partners.
* Excellent communicator both orally and on paper, including the ability to speak fluent English with clarity.
* Up to date CPD and Personal Development activities.
* Awareness of current developments in apprenticeship standards, awards, and qualifications.
* Excellent organisation and administrative abilities.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* An enthusiasm for all aspects of 16+ education and a commitment to the well-being of apprentices.
IT capabilities:
* Must have proficiency in the use of Excel / MS Word and PowerPoint presentation software or similar (Canva / Prezi etc).
* Must know and understand how to use Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook and SharePoint.
* Must have experience of and be able to effectively use web conferencing software such as Microsoft Teams.
* Must know and understand how to use basic E-Portfolio systems such as OneFile.
